Course description: This course explores diverse knowledge, world views, and aspirations that shape the actions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit individuals and communities in Canada. Students will examine issues of identity facing First Nations, Métis, and Inuit individuals and communities with respect to changing relationships with the land, nature, one another, and Canada. Students will explore their own and others’ world views, and the factors that shape world views over time, to develop an understanding of how traditional and contemporary beliefs and values influence the aspirations and practices of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities. Students are given the opportunity to develop further understanding about the impacts of colonization and how reconciling diverse knowledge, world views, and aspirations contributes to a call for societal understanding.
